Come Walk With Me

Walking, such a simple way to get exercise. Probably the easiest form of exercise for most people. I’m not sure we give it enough credit for all it does.

20 days ago I decided to start a “100 days walking challenge”. my life coach is doing a “walking despite the weather challenge” but with it being spring I didn’t think that walking despite the weather quite fit my challenge so I decided to take on 100 days of walking. Most days my daughter and I walk about 2.7 miles around a walking path by our house.

Have you ever considered walking to be a kind of rhythm? Have you noticed the rhythm when you hear a regiment of soldiers marching by? or a marching band? To be honest I hadn’t thought much about it.

Did you know that rhythm regulates the brain and our emotions? My life coach and I were talking about it when I started my walking journey and she was sharing some informations about some studies that have been done about how our first experience with rhythm was when we were in the womb and had the rhythm of our mothers heart.

Have you ever thought about when we are soothing a baby? We usually pick them up and bounce them or rock them in a rocking chair?

Dancing and drumming have been a part of all the cultures in the world. Why do you think that Is?

Today I had a lot of things that were difficult for me and that had my emotions running high and I was feeling a lot of stress in my mind and in my body. I had planned to go walking with my daughter but then forgot. When she texted and tried to call me I was thinking “I just don’t have time to go for a walk” but because I had committed to the challenge I decided to go.

I’m so glad I did, It’s hard to explain it but walking just makes things better, I feel happier, I’m better able to process the things that are happening in my life, it brings me peace and helps to clear my mind, I’m better able to find gratitude in my life and I get to spend some time noticing the beauty of the world and taking in the fresh air.

Yes I feel like walking regulates my mind and emotions and right now my favorite time of day to walk is in the afternoons or evenings after the stresses of the day.

YOU SHOULD COME……

COME WALKING WITH ME……..
